Qroodles LLC, a New Jersey limited liability company (“Qroodles,” “we,” “us”) operates a hyperlocal digital advertising and redemption network. This Policy explains what personal information we collect, why, who we share it with, and the choices you have.
This Policy applies to qroodles.com, app.qroodles.com, business.qroodles.com, the Qroodles mobile application, and the Qroodleplayer displays located at host businesses. The Service is intended for users in the United States. The Service is offered in the United States only. Qroodleplayer screens are located at businesses in the United States, and the offers we display are redeemable in person at those businesses. We do not target the Service to, or knowingly offer it in, the European Union or the United Kingdom, and this Policy is written to United States privacy law. If we begin offering the Service outside the United States, we will update this Policy before doing so.
1. Information We Collect
You provide to us:
- Account information: name, email address, mobile phone number, and password.
- Business information, for advertisers and hosts: business name, address, contact details, tax identification, and bank details (collected and held by Stripe, not by us).
- Content you submit: advertisement creative, images, offer descriptions, ratings, and support messages.
Collected automatically when you use the Service:
- Device information: device model, operating system version, app version, language, time zone, available storage, system uptime, and a Qroodles-assigned user identifier.
- Approximate (coarse) location, when you permit it, used to show nearby offers and to attribute a scan to a Qroodleplayer.
- Usage data: offers viewed and saved, scans, redemptions, screens visited, and timestamps.

Camera. The mobile application accesses your device camera only to read QR codes while the scanner is open. Images are processed on your device to decode the QR code. We do not store, transmit, or retain camera images.
From Qroodleplayer displays. Qroodleplayers record display activity such as which advertisements were shown and when, and aggregate presence signals used to determine whether a screen is being viewed. Qroodleplayer screens report technical information about themselves: software version, network signal strength, processor and memory load, temperature, storage, and screen brightness. They also report anonymous presence signals used to estimate how busy a location is, recorded only as counts, durations, and a confidence value. Qroodleplayers do not capture, transmit, or retain photographs, video, audio, or facial recognition data, and they cannot identify you.
From third parties. Payment status and payout information from Stripe; crash and diagnostic data from Apple; and business verification data from our service providers.
2. How We Use Information
- To operate the Service: show offers, save them, and process redemptions.
- To attribute a scan or redemption to the correct Qroodleplayer, advertiser, and host — this is how advertisers are billed and hosts are paid.
- To process payments, subscriptions, invoices, and host payouts.
- To detect, investigate, and prevent fraudulent redemptions, duplicate accounts, and abuse.
- To send transactional messages about your account, and — with your consent — marketing messages.
- To measure and report advertising performance to advertisers and hosts, in aggregate.
- To improve the Service and develop new features.
- To comply with law, enforce our Terms, and protect our rights and the rights of others.
3. How We Share Information
We share personal information only as described below.
- Service providers who process data on our behalf under contract: Stripe (payments and payouts), DigitalOcean (hosting), Cloudflare (network and security), Apple (app distribution and crash reporting), and our email and analytics providers.
- Hosts and advertisers receive aggregated performance reporting — counts of impressions, scans, and redemptions. We do not provide them your name, email, phone number, or device identifier. A merchant redeeming your offer sees only what is necessary to validate that redemption.
- Legal and safety: when required by law, subpoena, or court order, or where necessary to investigate fraud or protect someone’s safety.
- Business transfers: in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, subject to this Policy.
Selling and sharing. We do not sell your personal information for money. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We do not disclose identifiers to advertising networks or analytics providers. We use a small number of service providers to operate the Service, including a payment processor, a text message provider for phone verification, and an email delivery provider. They may process your information only to perform those services for us, and may not use it for their own purposes.
4. Retention
We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes described above.
- Account information: for the life of your account, then deleted or de-identified within 90 days of account closure.
- Redemption and transaction records: 7 years, to meet tax, accounting, and dispute-resolution obligations.
- Usage and device logs: 13 months.
- Fraud and abuse records: as long as needed to enforce our Terms and prevent repeat abuse.
5. Your Choices and Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to: know what personal information we hold about you; access a copy; correct inaccuracies; request deletion; obtain a portable copy; and opt out of targeted advertising, sale, sharing, or profiling.
How to make a request. Email privacy@qroodles.com or use the in-app privacy request form. We will verify your identity using information already associated with your account. We respond within 45 days and may extend once where permitted, with notice.
Appeals. If we deny your request, you may appeal by replying to our decision or writing to privacy@qroodles.com with “Appeal” in the subject line. We will respond within 45 days with a written explanation. If we deny the appeal, you may contact your state attorney general.
Non-discrimination. We will not deny you service, charge a different price, or provide a lesser experience because you exercised a privacy right.
Authorized agents. You may use an authorized agent, with proof of authorization.
Device controls. You can withdraw camera and location permissions at any time in your device settings, and turn off push notifications. Some features will stop working.
Marketing. Unsubscribe from any marketing email, or reply STOP to any text message. You cannot opt out of transactional messages while you hold an account.
Opt-out preference signals. We honor Global Privacy Control (GPC) signals where the law requires it. Because we do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, there is no advertising opt-out for the signal to apply to.
6. Security
We use technical and organizational measures appropriate to the sensitivity of the data, including encryption in transit, encryption of credentials at rest, access controls limiting staff access to what their role requires, logging of administrative actions, and regular backups. Payment card data is handled by Stripe and does not reach our servers.
No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. If a breach affecting your personal information occurs, we will notify you and the relevant authorities as required by applicable law.
7. Children
The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us information, contact privacy@qroodles.com and we will delete it. You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service. If you are between 13 and 18, or the age of majority where you live, you may use the Service only with the involvement and consent of a parent or legal guardian. This matches the age requirement in our Terms of Service. We do not knowingly use the personal information of a user we know to be under 16 for targeted advertising.
8. Changes
We may update this Policy. If a change is material, we will give notice by email or in-app notice before it takes effect and update the Effective Date above. Prior versions are available at qroodles.com/privacy/archive.
9. SMS and Mobile Information
When you provide your mobile phone number to Qroodles, we use it to send one-time verification codes and account-related messages. No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text messaging originator opt-in data and consent will not be shared with any third parties. We do not sell or share your SMS opt-in data or personal information with third parties for marketing purposes. Message and data rates may apply. Message frequency varies. Reply STOP to opt out or HELP for help.
10. Anonymous Foot-Traffic Sensing
Some Qroodles devices ("Qroodleplayers") can use their built-in camera to estimate how busy a host location is — for example, roughly how many people pass in front of the device during an hour. This feature is anonymous by design, and it is off unless the host business chooses to turn it on.
When a host enables foot-traffic sensing on their device:
- Counts only. The device detects the presence and movement of human shapes to produce a count. It does not identify, recognize, or distinguish any individual person.
- No facial recognition or biometrics. The device does not perform facial recognition and does not create, collect, or store any face scan, faceprint, or other biometric identifier.
- Nothing is kept. Camera images are processed on the device, in memory, and are immediately discarded. No image or video is saved on the device, sent to Qroodles, or shared with anyone.
- Numbers only leave the device. The device sends Qroodles only aggregate numbers, such as an hourly count. It does not transmit images or video, and it does not record audio for this or any other purpose.
- Not personal information. Because this information is anonymous and cannot be used to identify you, it is not personal information about you.
Host locations that enable foot-traffic sensing may display a notice informing visitors that anonymous foot-traffic sensing is in use. Questions may be directed to privacy@qroodles.com.
